Facial Scar Revision & Scar Improvement
Facial scarring can be distressing if the scars are highly visible
(such as acne scarring on the cheeks or forehead) or affect function of
the nearby areas such as the nose, eyelids, brows, or mouth. Treatment
can consist of a combination of surgery in which the scars are moved or
repositioned so as to be better camouflaged, followed by smoothing of
the scar and surrounding area with a laser or dermambrader. Silicone
gels and sheeting or local steroid injections may also be helpful.
SCAR REVISION is generally done under "Twilight" Anesthesia
and the patient can go home the same day. Enough sedation
is given so that the patient is comfortable and has little if any
recollection of the procedure, but avoids the undesirable effects of
general anesthesia.
